   Beamer et al didn't trust Ryan Williams in pass blocking either which is why he was red-shirted in his Freshman year, 2008. However, as a R-Fr., (2009) he set a school record, 1655 yds., later broken by David Wilson. Williams was injured in 2010 and opted out of his 3rd and 4th years for the NFL. Don't read too much into Pry's staff concerns about Duke's pass blocking which he likely did little of in HS. College football idemands a wider range of skills @ every position.

   Nice article. Would love to see us focus on the LOS in portal on both sides of the ball as you can make avg RB look better with strong OL. Also have disruptive front 4 makes the back half of a defense sooooo much better. Let's Go... Hokies Beat Gah Tech

   I don’t really care if it’s Pry or Marve calling the defense. Without more talented players, it doesn’t matter who is calling the defense! Pry has to bring in big time recruits in order to make the team competitive. He has no room to make mistakes in talent evaluation.

   I think the Duke redshirt analysis in article is a glass half full view. It may be accurate. But we have seen some clumsy play counts for players over the course of the season - Blue and the young receivers - that don't make me feel confident that the coaching staff if really doing a good job at personnel decisions. I don't know if there is a rhyme or reason for Duke's play count, but it could be protection related...at least hoping it is.

      I've heard enough about Duke in the State game. He missed a delayed blitz but the quarterback survived. Andre Kendrick missed a blitz pickup against Pitt that cost us a chance at another National Championship game. He was a senior. $hit happens. If a lineman blocks a little better last week the hole isn't wide open.

   I personally think the 2023 recruiting class is weak in most areas. Maybe 2 or 3 will be able to significantly contribute to the team next year. Most of the recruits will need two years of development, nutrition, agility, and strength training before they'll will be able to help improve the play on the field.

      Which is what the vast majority of three star recruits do. Tech, right now and in the near future, is going to get recruits that need 2-3 years of weight room and practice seasoning before they reach consistent productivity on the field. The hope is that as juniors and seniors they can compete at a high level.

   I had to erase what I wrote. I am so disappointed in the staff and their qualifications/results what I wrote was just too ugly. Hope they come around but if Marve isn't up to the job next year.... These guys need to show some progress and one qtr. isn't it.

   I read in TTL Notes that Pry stated the redshirt permitted non-players to "lift." Good to see someone besides you to state the obvious.

    Any news about them possibly offering Jahylen Lee maybe as PWO. I could see him becoming a S Peoples type contributor at RB; He’s put up monster numbers at Franklin Co High vs the best competition that exists in SWVA (LCA, Salem, LB)

    From the question above: How does the defense perform in comparison to 2022 with Pry not calling plays anymore, and perhaps not quite as involved on a daily basis?
