Virginia Tech began preseason basketball practice in early October, and the season tips off on Monday, November 7 when the Hokies host Delaware State. This 2022-23 Tech basketball team features some faces that you are very familiar with, but it also has a lot of new names.

Totally agree with your comments on Mike Young’s recruiting. I’m not worried about the rankings at all. The guy seems to know what he’s doing when picking his targets. If he thinks the players are good enough for him they they’re good enough me too.

great article & insight .. I think with CMY @ the helm, he'll be under-rated every year .. and of course VT will be under-rated among the "blue bloods" .. that permits our guys to play with a chip on their collective shoulders .. that's the position we perform best at

Most teams want an 8-9 man rotation. Rice, Collins, Camden and Poteat off the bench. What would be great is if Kidd and Buchanan could provide solid minutes if injuries happen. It seems that if Wessler could redshirt, that would be ideal.

Football basketball etc etc. No sport is worth letting it upset you and stealing your joy in life. It’s just a game and there are plenty of other things in life more important than getting bummed out about winning or losing a game. I have seen the worst and best of VT athletics and sure it’s great when we are winning. But it’s not the end of the world or life or death like some take it sometimes. ?

Just FYI: The team will "jell," not "gel." Jell means "to come together": Our team is starting to jell. Gel refers to a jellylike substance: hair gel.

Wow, 12 schollie player. One thing that should be mentioned here (and maybe was true last year) is that Young has finally signed a full complement of schollie players. This just never happend under the last four coaches, Seem to remember Greenberg working with eight guys and likewise w/injuries Buzz was down to seven schollie players. Just always seemed to be guys transferring out etc., of course, we'd be thin. Buzz did that deliberately I suppose but that made things dicey when Justin Robinson was out etc. So yeah, this is a moment we havent' had in a long time. We'll find out if they can play or not but the potential is there for backups and get this: at the bigs as well as the usual swarm of guards and getting a good balance of upperclassmen and the new guys to break in..

My worry is that Cattoor has to spend too much time at Point waiting for Rice to be able to plug in.
