Shawn Quinn went from The Enigma of Arrival to Virginia Tech's favorite gastronome pretty quickly. Hokie fans were ready for big-time hires poached from SEC and B10 schools who’d purge any aftertaste of Fuente’s Illinois State crew. Naturally, Brent Pry’s first hire was a Louisiana-Lafayette coaching buddy he made about twenty years ago—a buddy who hadn’t had a lick of P5 experience outside of a few GA years, and who seemed to be hired without exactly having an official title. It was a little strange. Then the other hires rolled in, and we forgot about Quinn until around mid-January, when he hit the recruiting trail.
