The Hokies celebrated another win in the state of North Carolina. (Ivan Morozov)

Over the course of a 12-game regular season, not every game is going to be pretty.  There are going to be peaks and valleys, and injuries and scheduling quirks can affect things quite a bit.  When I look at yesterday’s Duke game, I saw a tired Tech team that is battling a lot of injuries on defense, and that was playing its fourth road game since October 8.  I also saw a Duke defense whose coaching staff put it in a very good position to succeed against a hot Hokie offense.  Despite all of that, Virginia Tech escaped Durham with a 24-21 win, and they remain in control of the Coastal Division.
