For Jaylen Griffin, reopening his recruitment was a family decision. The 3-star linebacker from Rome, Ga. decommitted from California on June 22

“I liked Cal because of their academics,” Griffin said. “I think they’re a good academic school. They were a team I always liked when I was younger, and I just wanted to commit as soon as possible. But then, I started having discussions with my folks, and I have three other brothers that are going to play football at home, and it would be really tough on my parents to watch all of us play. So I made the decision to decommit for now and weigh my options out.”
