He was an underrated athlete coming out of high school. Rated only as a two-star or three-star prospect by recruiting websites. Yet if you watched his high school film, there was no question he was an exceptional talent. His athleticism at 6-3 showed plenty of upside and potential. However, his offer list only included smaller in-state schools and several FCS programs – until Virginia Tech offered him a scholarship. The coaches saw his talent as a natural fit on Bud Foster’s defense. He is so impressively athletic for his size that the coaches decided to get him work at the cornerback position. With that type of ability, it only makes sense why Kam Chancellor is now an All-Pro safety and Super Bowl champion in the NFL. If you thought I was referring to Adonis Alexander, you are not mistaken. Chancellor’s journey is actually fairly similar to Alexander’s coming out of high school.
