Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA) has established itself as one of the state of Virginia's top high school football programs. Virginia Tech has enjoyed success in recruiting the school, most recently landing tailback Deshawn McClease, who will become a high school graduate in June and enroll at Virginia Tech in July.

McClease rushed for over 2,000 yards and 29 touchdowns his senior season, earning 6A first-team all-state honors for his performance. In three seasons on the Oscar Smith varsity level, the 5'10", 185-pound prospect rushed for 5,025 yards and totaled 82 touchdowns. He chose Virginia Tech over offers from Louisville, Maryland and North Carolina, among others.
