There is no time off in recruiting. National Signing Day for the class of 2015 was on Wednesday, and yesterday the Virginia Tech coaching staff hosted many class of 2016 targets at a Junior Day recruiting event.

The Hokies gained one class of 2016 commitment on Saturday, when St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD) cornerback Kareem Felder pledged to the Hokies. We’ll provide updates in the coming days and weeks on the prospects that made it to this Junior Day, but generally speaking the day seems to have gone very well.

Paramus Catholic (N.J.), which produced Virginia Tech rising red-shirt freshman offensive lineman Billy Ray Mitchell, was well represented in Blacksburg on Saturday. Leading the way was junior defensive lineman Rashan Gary, who is currently rated the no. 1 overall prospect in the nation according to Scout.com. The 6’4”, 280-pound Gary is rated highly by the other three national recruiting outlets as well, coming in as a 5-star by 247Sports and a 5-star by Rivals.

Gary has scholarship offers from all across the country, including Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Virginia Tech and many more.

Paramus Catholic junior wide receiver Donald Stewart, junior offensive lineman Ahmir Copher, sophomore defensive lineman Corey Bolds, sophomore linebacker Drew Singleton and sophomore offensive lineman Jackson Mitchell (Billy Ray’s brother), and class of 2018 quarterback Allan Walters. At this point Tech has not yet offered any of these players, but they are names to remember. Stewart has offers from Boston College, Rutgers, Syracuse and Wake Forest.

In addition to the group of Paladin prospects, Virginia Tech hosted a large number of other recruits yesterday. First, we’ll start with those class of 2016 prospects the Hokies have offered. (These are the ones we confirmed to be in attendance yesterday.)
