In four years at Blacksburg High School (Blacksburg, VA), place-kicker Carson Wise made 32 field goals in 40 attempts. His senior year, Wise converted on 11-of-13 field goals including two of more than 50 yards (51, 55) and one 47-yarder. Those kinds of numbers are sure to draw some college attention, and that is just what Wise has right now. He is hoping serious interest turns into more scholarship opportunities.
Davidson cannot offer a full football scholarship, but for all intents and purposes, through academic grants and so on, the Wildcats have offered the promising place-kicker. JMU, Princeton, and William & Mary have expressed serious interest. Virginia Tech has extended a recruited walk-on opportunity and Virginia is keeping tabs as well.
