Erick Green's departure leaves a gaping hole at point guard for Virginia Tech next season. The newest candidate to help fill the void is Malik Mueller , who verbally committed to the Hokies on Valentine's Day and will be a true freshman this coming season.
"Due to the fact that Erick Green is leaving, I just expect to earn some more playing time and with that to help the team more," Mueller wrote in an e-mail interview. "And I expect to be ready from the first game I step on the court. I want to be ready from day one. Right now I would say there is still a lot to do (especially in the athletic section), but as soon I get this done I am going to be ready. Mentally, I am already ready to play for the Hokies."
