Brunswick (Lawrenceville, VA) kicked off the 2012 season in good fashion with a 20-19 win over Nottoway. The Bulldogs then proceeded to lose five straight, at which point the season hung in the balance. Virginia Tech-bound junior Xavier Burke and his teammates rallied, though, and are now winners of four straight heading into the first round of the Division 3, Region 1 playoffs.
Brunswick's 18-2 win over rival Greensville County evened its overall record at 5-5, 4-2 in the Southside District.
