Augie Conte had never played organized football before the late summer/fall of 2008, when he suited up for the Central Virginia Disciples, a football program for home-school students. He played two seasons for the Disciples before moving on to Blessed Sacrament Huguenot, a private school in Powhatan, Virginia. He started at offensive tackle for two years and defensive tackle his senior season (though he saw significant time on the D-line as well in 2010), helping the Knights to back-to-back VISAA Division 4 state championships.
Conte enjoyed a very successful summer last year, earning scholarship offers from Maryland, Old Dominion, Virginia and Virginia Tech. He verbally committed to Tech last summer and will sign a letter of intent with the Hokies on February 1. Barring a change, he will enroll in Fork Union Military Academy's postgraduate program next fall and enroll at Virginia Tech in January of 2013.
