The weekend of the Miami game, head coach Frank Beamer told Der'Woun Greene that he couldn't wait to get him to Blacksburg. He won't have to wait much longer. The 5'10", 170-pound senior will graduate early from Wilson High School (Portsmouth, VA) and enroll at Virginia Tech in January of 2012.
"I talked to my family, the coaches there at Virginia Tech and the people at academic affairs, and they said I could come early. I think it's a good move for me," said Greene, who said he made this decision months ago. "It's exciting to me. It was more surprising to my mom. She's really scared, but to me it's exciting. I'm ready to get up there."
