With the recent information that the playing days of Quillie Odom and Lorenzo
Williams are at an end, Virginia Tech will now be just below the 85-man
scholarship limit when incoming freshmen enroll next month.
Odom decided to stop playing football for lack of playing time, and Williams
elected to give it up because of recurring injuries, most notably the lisfrac
injury that kept him out for all of the 2010 season. With those two players no
longer in the program, by my count the Hokies will have 83 scholarship players
on campus when camp begins in August. That number could potentially drop if any
other players decide not to return.
