Virginia Tech lost two of the best tailbacks in school history, Ryan Williams
and Darren Evans, to the NFL Draft. Starting fullback Kenny Younger must also be
replaced. New running backs coach Shane Beamer won't have quite as much to work
with as Billy Hite did last year, but the talent is still there to have an
outstanding running game.
Tech averaged 198.7 yards per game on the ground last season, 23rd in the
nation, and they were led by three very good tailbacks, as well as a quarterback
who ran well. The ground game was amongst the best in the country, and the
Hokies used a lot of talented players.
