Just two years ago, the wide receiver position was the biggest weakness on
the team. The Hokies played all freshmen at receiver in 2008, and as a result it
was perhaps the weakest position on any team of the Beamer Bowl Era. Two years
later, things are a lot different.
Wide receiver is a difficult position to play as a true freshman, thanks to
the complex passing games of modern football. When an entire receiving corps is
made up of freshmen, along with a true sophomore quarterback, then you know the
offense is going to struggle.
