Camp season is upon us again and the Virginia Tech coaches hope to continue the recent success they have enjoyed at this time of year. Last year's June one-day camp was certainly eventful, with Zack McCray surprising the coaches with a commitment. McCray was the first of eight commitments for the Hokies last June and July, giving Tech 17 2010 class commits by the beginning of August. The previous year, 11 players committed over the course of June and July. How much success Virginia Tech will have this year remains to be seen, but without question the camp season has become a big part of the staff's recruiting.
Virginia Tech enters June with two commitments, defensive tackle Kris Harley and rover/whip Ronny Vandyke. The staff still does not have a lot of scholarships to play with and likely will end up with 12-15 recruits signing in this class. The July camp figures to be the bigger one in terms of high profile recruits and targets, but this Saturday will be important.
