If newspaper reports are accurate, Virginia Tech is expected to announce the
hiring of John Richardson as a new assistant men's basketball coach sometime
soon. Richardson has a long history of basketball in the state of Virginia, and
he is a very good hire from a recruiting perspective.
For those of you who follow football recruiting, you know that Virginia Tech
has made a living off recruiting in-state players. On the hardwood, things
haven't been the same. The Hokies' best players from the ACC era have come from
out-of-state, while their ability to recruit in-state standouts has not been
strong.
