At this time every year, we are generally worried about the progress of the
offensive line and lamenting the lack of depth up front. While the Hokies have
lost Sergio Render and Ed Wang, the overall talent and depth on the line has not
been better since Tech joined the ACC.
Curt Newsome has been Virginia Tech's offensive line coach since 2006, and
when he arrived he had a new vision for recruiting linemen. Newsome wanted
leaner, quicker players who could be built into 300-pounders and still move
their feet. Four years later, we are beginning to see the successful results of
his vision.
