Virginia Tech held the first of three open scrimmages on Saturday afternoon. There were several standouts on each side of the ball, and one young player continued right where he left off during the spring.
With Darren Evans down with a torn ACL, there is an open competition for Tech's starting tailback job. Ryan Williams appeared to have the upper hand in Saturday's scrimmage. He continues to make big plays with the ball in his hands. He has a low center of gravity, and he is hard to tackle.
