Rockbridge County (Lexington, VA) offensive lineman Caleb Farris picked up a big-time offer last Tuesday, when Virginia Tech became the third Division 1A program to offer the 6-4, 300-pound junior. Farris, who also has offers from East Carolina and Marshall, learned of the news in interesting fashion.

"I was in [Rockbridge] Coach [Jason] White's office and he told me my mom was on the way," Farris recalled. "He said I needed to fill out some paperwork for the Clearinghouse. I was just waiting around. My mom was there and then my dad was there. Then, my girlfriend and her mom and her dad were there. I didn't know what was going on and then Coach White put the phone on speaker and said, 'Hey, Coach Beamer.' I knew what was happening then. It was just crazy. It was real exciting."
