Thanks to changes in Virginia Tech's recruiting strategies over the last
several years, the annual Top Gun Award is no longer valid, and we have quit
awarding it. However, that's not stopping us from taking a look at recruiting
since the Hokies' last major staff overhaul, following the 2005 season. Who is
holding his own, and who is not? And finally, is the offensive or defensive
staff having more success on the recruiting trail?
Virginia Tech's coaching staff went through major changes following the 2005
season. Danny Pearman, Kevin Rogers, Lorenzo Ward and Tony Ball all departed
Blacksburg, and Kevin Sherman, Mike O'Cain, Torrian Gray and Curt Newsome
replaced them.
