The Hun School (Princeton, N.J.) place-kicker/punter Scott Demler had visited Virginia Tech one time prior to the official visit he made last weekend. The first visit came last summer, shortly after the 6-1, 190-pound prospect attended camp at James Madison University. As soon as he arrived in Blacksburg, he knew then that Virginia Tech was where he wanted to go.
"I was actually at JMU with one of my recruiting coaches. There was a camp going on then. A Virginia Tech graduate assistant was actually there," Demler said. "My coach handed him my highlight tape and I told him that I was going to be at Virginia Tech on whatever the date it was. I asked him to give the coaches a heads up. When I came on campus, Coach Cavanaugh gave me a warm welcome. I just loved it. My dad used to play linebacker at Penn State, so I had been there before. I had been to Notre Dame, Clemson, Wake Forest, Pitt and South Carolina. As soon as I stepped on Virginia Tech's campus, I just loved it. The first thing I saw was the stadium and I was like, 'Wow'. Then I toured the other facilities and they were all just incredible."
