Hargrave Military Academy defensive back/running back D.J. Thomas, a former star at Patrick Henry High School in Ashland (VA), will not re-sign with Virginia Tech. The 5-9, 175-pound prospect originally signed with Tech last February and had planned to re-sign with the Hokies next month, but the two parties have decided to go their separate ways. According to Patrick Henry assistant coach Scott Brown, Thomas has done well in the classroom since arriving at Hargrave. Unfortunately, the talented prospect has yet to gain a qualifying SAT score, something that could have been the deal breaker with Virginia Tech.
