Last Thursday, Amherst (VA) star Derrick McCoy verbally committed to Virginia Tech. It was a decision the 6-3, 210-pound WR/ATH prospect had been considering for quite some time, but, in the end it turned out to be an easy choice.
"I thought about it for a while," McCoy said. "They've been talking to me for a while and they were talking good. I like the coaches. They've been talking to me since I was a freshman. I know they will treat me right. It's a good program. It's close to home, so my mom won't have to travel too far or anything. So, I just made the decision."
