After
six straight losses to BC, the Hokies finally got a hold of the Eagles Wednesday
night and shook them like a pit bull shakes a rag doll. The win was nice, in
more ways than one, and the Hokies are now a lock to finish in the top four of
the ACC. As the season winds down, it's apparent that Virginia Tech has handled
the ebb and flow of the ACC schedule a lot better than they did the last time
they finished in the top four, in 2004-05.
Tech ran the Eagles off the Cassell Coliseum floor by coming in with a better
game plan than the one VT had in Chestnut Hill 18 days ago, when BC throttled
Tech 80-59. In that game, the Hokies started out in a zone and BC exploited it,
hitting 8-of-15 three-pointers in the first half and racing to a 47-26 half time
lead. The zone also allowed BC to exploit one of Tech's biggest weaknesses,
rebounding.
