It
was just 19 days ago that a Hokie basketball team that appeared to be getting it
in gear went to Marshall and suffered an embarrassing 59-58 defeat. Less than
three weeks later, VT finds itself in the national rankings, the toast of the
ACC after wins over Duke and North Carolina. Basketball has always been a game
of runs and momentum, and with the pendulum finally swinging Tech's way again,
everyone around the program wonders if they can keep things going.
Emotions, confidence, and momentum play a big role in all sports. Positive
energy can be difficult to capture, and once lost, hard to get back. Two years
ago, when Seth Greenberg was named ACC Coach of the Year, a Hokie basketball
team that was a mediocre 7-6 on January 12th suddenly ripped off four straight
ACC wins.
