Today, during a 1:45 p.m. press conference at Varina High School , Varina (VA) standouts Jamar Jackson and Bud Tribbey announced their college intentions. Virginia Tech was in the final two for both prospects, with Florida State being the other finalist for Jackson and Syracuse being the other finalist for Tribbey. How did the Hokies fare this afternoon?
The answer is...not good, as both prospects will be heading out of state.
Jackson, a 6-4, 230-pound defensive end/outside linebacker recruiter, chose Florida State over offers from Virginia Tech , Boston College , Clemson, Louisville and N.C. State , among others.
"Last week I felt it in my gut about Florida State," Jackson said. "I knew for sure last night when I talked to my parents. It's a great program with great tradition. Coach Bowden took us in as a family and I liked that."
