5-9, 175-pound Fork Union Military Academy wide receiver Jacoby Ford showed off his outstanding speed and big play ability on the first play of FUMA’s game versus Hargrave Military Academy last Friday. Lining up beside the quarterback in Shotgun formation, Ford took a pitch and sprinted towards the outside. With no room to run, he reversed field and outran the Hargrave defense for a 75-yard touchdown run. The speed and big-play ability he showed on this play are several reasons why Ford has seen his recruitment take off this fall.
“I told Coach Clark I was going to do that,” Ford said of the play after the game. FUMA fell to Hargrave in an exciting game, 40-34. “I just told Coach Clark there would be too many people pursuing. I said as soon as I get it, I’m going to make everybody come over one way and just go back the other way.”
