It’s easy to see why Ricky Sapp is one of the top prospects in South Carolina and one of the top defensive ends in the country…his combination of size and speed is outstanding, and he has used it to wreak havoc on opposing offenses over the past two seasons.
“You have to have size and Ricky is 6-5 and probably pushing close to 230 right now,” Bamberg-Ehrhardt head coach Ron Duncan said. “He’s gotten a lot bigger than we thought he was going to get and he’s got a tremendous frame to hold a lot more weight. But I think the interesting thing about Ricky is that he’s a legitimate 4.5 guy. He’s a 100 meter, 200 meter guy in track. Usually you don’t see guys who are that tall and big run that fast. He certainly breaks the mold as far as that goes. And finally, he plays extremely hard and he makes plays. He’s got a tremendous motor and he plays really hard and I think those things show up on film. All of these things combined have been what’s led him to be a top recruit.”
