Virginia Tech capped a week that began with a commitment from one of the top players in the country by receiving a verbal commitment from one of the top defensive players in the state of North Carolina. Stephan Virgil, a 5-11, 165-pound recruit out of Rocky Mount High School, has committed to Virginia Tech.
“I’ve decided to go to Virginia Tech,” Virgil said. “The environment is real nice. It was a good environment for me and somewhere I think I could live for 4 years. The fans are loud and they have an excellent football program. They play a smash-mouth brand of football. That’s my style. I don’t do a lot of talking on the field, but I talk with my pads. That’s how they play. Plus, the coaching staff are all really great guys.”
