Ike Whitaker first appeared as a starting quarterback on the high school scene in 2002. As a sophomore without much football experience, the Northwest High School (Germantown, MD) product was asked not to do too much in running a team comprised of many experienced players.
As a junior, he was asked to step into a much larger role of playmaker for his team. He responded with 1,200 yards passing and 20 touchdown tosses to only five interceptions. A solid 6-4, 200 pound player with legit 4.5 speed (was timed twice during VT’s 2003 summer camp at 4.5 in the 40), he added 500 yards rushing and averaged 9.8 yards per carry.
