Virginia Tech landed its 18th verbal commitment of the 2004 class, when Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) athlete Purnell Sturdivant pledged to the Hokies. According to Sturdivant, he informed the Tech coaches during a Saturday dinner.
"I've committed to Virginia Tech," Sturdivant said. "It was exciting. We were at dinner last night, and I told Coach Stinespring. He called over Coach Beamer, and then I told them both that I wanted to officially commit to Virginia Tech."
