Virginia Tech announced the official inductees into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday, including the induction of Hokies legend Michael Vick.
Vick, who retired from the NFL officially this spring, led Virginia Tech to a National Championship Game appearance in the 1999 season, where Vick finished third in Heisman Trophy voting. Vick threw for 1,840 yards and 12 touchdowns, while running for another 580 yards and eight touchdowns that year. Vick went on to the be the No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.
Virginia Tech will induct four other members into the hall of fame in the Class of 2017.
Zabian Dowdell — Dowdell was a star for Virginia Tech men's basketball in his four-year career, starting 118 career games. In his senior season, Dowdell averaged 17.4 points per game and was named to the First-Team All-ACC and the All-ACC Defensive team.
Tim Buheller — Buheller starred for Virginia Tech baseball in the mid-1980s, and holds multiple career records in the program, including most runs scored. Buheller also holds the longest hitting streak in program history at 32 games.
Megan Evans — Evans played for Virginia Tech softball and leads the program in career home runs.
Ben Taylor — Taylor was a two-time All-American for Virginia Tech football. Taylor played from 1998-2001, and led the Hokies' defense in 1999, when Tech finished 11-0 before losing to Florida State in the National Championship. Taylor was drafted in the fourth-round of the 2002 NFL Draft.
