Not dismissing what you are saying as I think on the whole, that's true,

but that phenomenon isn't unique to VT, yet it is our wrestlers who, relative to their competition, seem stagnant. To Fstalker's point, Caleb never looks to keep it close and win with a TD. Even in a 1-0 win vs Lovett in the NCAA semis, Caleb was attacking and working his offense. Sam and Andy are often like this but don't have the same skillset to dominate like Caleb does. But, that is how Sam has been able to knock off elite talent throughout his career. Mullen has some of it. TJ at his best can wrestle this way. Hip has a different style but he is aggressive. Church is working but doesn't have top end talent and is still growing into 165. What we're really talking about is Eddie, Brady, Wolak, Catka and recently Mekhi. No idea why Wolak is so flat-footed this year. Eddie lacks confidence to be more attacking, IMO. Brady and Catka - I have no idea why their talent never fully materialized. Mekhi - I think he fell back on what he was most comfortable doing (counter wrestling) and because it was good enough to win, he didn't continue to develop. But, he never seemed out of shape or winded at the end of matches. He was grinding. After we took it to Missouri and Rutgers, and had a pretty good showing at CKLV, this looked like a promising season. However, the luster has definitely worn off now. Eddie - won't AA if he doesn't get more aggressive McG - hasn't shown he's AA caliber in what little we've seen Sam - fringe AA; has it in him but it's a longshot Caleb - AA lock if healthy Hip - still think putting in an AA run is a stretch but he'll be a threat in every match Mac - would be a success if he qualifies for AA Lennox - watching him this year, it is shocking that he is a returning AA. He is just fundamentally not good on his feet. TJ - we've seen what he has capable of but as of now it's not there. His performance is like those HR hitters on PEDs compared to those without it. Not at all suggesting he was on PEDs last year, but what I mean is the juice isn't there. Andy - fringe AA but a lot will need to go right for him Jimmy - does some things so well but is still a little weak for HWT; has AA potential though
