Sophie Swanson initial thoughts
I have been to both games. One surprise is that Sophie has not played much and has not excelled when she has played. I think we are going to need her especially her 3 point shooting. Thought I saw that she might have had a minor injury that set her back. She does not have the lightning quickness of our other guards but comes with much experience (and some swagger). In short, it is a long season and I hope she is able to turn the corner soon. Go Hokies.

conference. That being said, I did expect her to play more in this game, She was inconsistent at Purdue but she should show more hopefully with experience and being a year older. Only one guard is really lightning quick and that is Suffren, though Nelson has some quicks. We will see how the season goes. I do think this game shows that the bench might be shorter than we think in close games?

injury and to earn her coach's trust to get more mins. Maybe it happens in one more game, although very unlikely. She will hopefully learn to mesh with the other players and with both O and D systems, which are probably different from what she played in before.
It may take 6-8 games. It may take 16-18 games. Even if it takes that long and she comes on strong during conference play, then that will be great.
