The record is about what I thought it would be, with a couple of wins that weren’t expected, and 4-5 losses that were extremely disappointing either due to opponent or just the competitiveness (Fla St). I like the culture of the program and the development we saw from some players (Carys would be my pick for most improved over CW). I’ll just be a little miffed for why we didn’t bring in a more experienced 5 in the portal, as the staff had to know White/Hazelton were not close to ACC caliber rotation pieces. That just left Rose and Kayl/CB, who are both 4s. I thought a 6’2 4th/5th year midmajor center to be a rotational frontcourt piece would’ve been a huge addition probably worth 2/3 wins, a la what UNC did bringing in Grace Townsend from Richmond to lead the bench unit. I get it’s the first year and it’s new players in new roles, but the whole rotation is almost all 4 stars, and the majority had continuity from practicing together all of last year. Just will feel like we maybe left some meat on the bone for what this squad could’ve achieved this year. Maybe we’ll get lucky and somehow get an at large bid, but don’t see that happening unless there’s some major collapses by other bubble teams in these final games.
