That seems like a terrible idea.

You have a coach, who is a proven winner ... and you want to give him a "Strings Attached" contract? If I were KB and that were the deal offered to me, I'd nicely tell you to start interviewing for my position. We're talking about WBB, not Football or MBB... "breaking the bank" here isn't the same as it is in those sports. VT's WBB expenses is (provided the link is right) ~$3.4M. We gave Fuente ~$9M to go away, so the money is there. If you take the $9M and divide it across 3 years, that would nearly double the VT WBB budget and would massively help the program. If I were the AD, I'd ... - Offer larger salaries for KB (+ $500K) and his assistants (+ $300K to share) - Offer more charter flights for more road games (Not sure the cost) - Offer more resources for recruiting and ancillary staff (let's say, + $200K) - Solicit doners to improve the NIL deals (off the record, of course)
