I think it isn't necessarily hurting fan loyalty to schools. Well, i can

only speak for myself. It won't hurt my interest in VT sports. Now, that being said, if women's basketball becomes more of a revolving door like football or men's basketball, then it can hurt attachment and loyalty to players. I think that may be the gist of your post. Loyalty to players will wan or at least be fleeting in a given year. We will appreciate players like Freelon, even if they are only here for a year, and get used to it like we do free agency in professional sports. But we will be jaded a bit more. We may cherish the players who stay the length of their time at the school, and some will. However, when you see entire teams depart via the portal, it can't always be the fault of the coach or administration. I get a lot of it. Most players, if not 99%. will not make big money after college, so they have this limited window to make some money. I hope they have financial advisors so they leave college with a lot of that money intact. I hope they get their regular world jobs that help them carry on their lives. I am sure some will have their lifelong friends, but these relationships will seem fleeting.

your loyalty should focus on the front of the uniform, not the name
squarerootofone 04/05/26 04:05 PM ET
Nope. Your loyalty should be to yourself over your school **

Ok. No more names on the back of the jerseys. **

Good grief. So we should not get to know the players?**
