Freshman may want more playing time but that does not mean they will get it. I am not worried about that dynamic. That isn't a problem as long as they don't become poisonous on the bench. From everything we saw this year, players like Swanson, Jenkins, Spela and Kayl had great attitudes. So, the "current freshman wanting more playing time" - to be cynical. They can want it all theyw want; it does not mean they will get it. If it means someone transfers AFTER this year, so be it. And I won't even get into the whole Kate Sears conversation. We hear every year that incoming freshmen are good enough for playing time. We will see. Any guard is not going to get a lot of playing time...point blank. Sears isnt likely to. And freshman isn't going to. Barring a transfer out, Wenzel, Nelson, Suffren, Wells are going to command most of the playing time. In ACC play, Wenzel and Nelson will get 30 minutes a game. If we bring in a portal wing like we did with Lani White or Daley...one who can shoot.....then that is another person competing for time. And if Baker gets time at the 3.... Will someone transfer out? I won't get into specifics but I think it is a possibility. We have a lot of guards, so it is possible. We will see. If the coaches need to target a strong post and/or a good shooting wing, they will make room. Next year is important: Baker and Wenzel are seniors. Nelson is a junior. We have a veteran guard group. We need the forwards to step up alot and/or bring in posts..... The progress in the first three years should have been: year one - recover from Brooks leaving, with many players taking on new roles, including starting and being go-to players.... year two - top five of the ACC. Make the NCAA tournament year three - top 3-4 of the ACC. Advance out of the first round and make a round to the quarterfinals? year four - Wenzel and Baker are gone...we need new go to players......
