Well, another nice season but hardly a great one.
We need to win in the post season and we are talented enough to do it. We just aren't getting it done - at least we have some really good frosh arms that will be sophomores next year if we can keep them.

It was a great season. This was a year without perhaps a superstar in the
lineup like a McMillan. The team may have been more balanced. I at first described it as a transitional year; Pete does not see it that way. Every year. it is is about reloading and being good. ** Edited by VAHokie89 at 5/17/2026, 5:15:13 PM

We lost Lemley, Peck, and McMillan from last year’s team.
Maybe not a great season, but a nice rebuilding year with a nice future.

It was great. Sometimes you run into a tough team.

Well the school and athletic department need to try their best to work
graduation around the softball team's schedule. It truly not fair to hold back our ladies from hosting if it is due to graduation and not enough rooms. First off, the new AD and the adminstrators of VT need to really look at working with the NCAA about the 30 mile radius. That keeps us out of contention due to about 10 miles more to Salem/Roanoke. I heard something on TV during this tournament that VT was being considered either the 15th or 16th seed for the tournament. So how do we not get one of those spots to host? I seem to remember the same thing happened last year. The last time we hosted regionals and supers was when we were in the Top 8 and they couldn't keep us out! Someone also said on this board that VT assistant was able to find a hotel in Roanoke, but it didn't meet the standards of the NCAA. If the NCAA continues to blow smoke up the SEC teams, and limit the rest of the conferences in the country from earning spots hosting, then it seems like the stack is against us. I mean it should tell you something when the top six teams in the top 8 are SEC, there is an issue all around. I know FSU was upset, but they won the regular season and tourney crown for the ACC, and then doesn't receive a Top 8 seed, why was UCLA placed at 9th to begin with. UCLA is a very good team, this prevented FSU to be a top 8 seed. This type of bias needs to stop, and we also were told that RPI would not be the main metric this season, that they were adding in two other metrics, which VT placed very well in. Until we get an ACC commisioner, and a tough AD at VT, we will always be the door mat of softball, even though our leagues teams are improving each year. I know I am preaching to the choir, but there is too much in favor of the SEC. It also looks like FSU was screwed again, remember the year they finished 14-0 and didn't even make the college football playoffs because their starting QB was injured. Since then, there have been issues whether top players would be able to play or not in the CFP. It's time for a change all the way. Addtionally, two of the three teams we swept from the SEC made it into the tournament and both made it to the regional final, with Georgia hosting, we beat them handily in both games at GA. We started off playing a SC team that was ranked and highly touted before the season and we beat them in our first tournament of the season and the first game of the season for both teams! Sorry, I needed to vent!
