How about an extra $500,000 for Softball, soccer and wrestling? $1,000,000 for men's hoops and $500,000 for woman's hoops. Begin plans for funding and updating softball stadium and ADD REAL SEATS! An efficient, well-run Hokie Club could/should make a HUGE difference in today's environment where effective fundraising is critical. We need the leader of the Hokie Club to be an experienced fundraiser. It's really not that complicated, but we have failed to do that FOR YEARS! From Chris' outstanding article today: "(Whit) originally brought in Bill Lansden as the head of the Hokie Club to completely revamp Virginia Tech’s donation model and bring it up to modern standards. It was the correct decision and badly needed to be done. "However, as the new guy, Lansden became the bad cop. When donors pushed back against the new structure, Lansden fell on the sword rather than Babcock. I don’t know if it was planned this way, but he was sacrificed to get Tech into a better position financially. "All of that was good decision-making, but it was quickly undone by a series of bad decisions. Lansden stepped down in October of 2019; to this day, he’s never been truly replaced. Babcock appointed Brad Wurthman, who had no fundraising experience, to do the job while also overseeing numerous other areas of the athletic department. "For reasons unknown, Babcock then decided to move on from Wurthman in 2025, but he simply gave the job to another Tech employee who also had no experience in fundraising: Danny White. "The Hokie Club has remained understaffed and not properly led for a long, long time. In the modern era of college athletics, fundraising is extremely important, but Babcock failed to address it. "Multiple sources have indicated to Tech Sideline that Virginia Tech wanted to bring the Hokie Club under university advancement to streamline everything, but Babcock always rejected such a move until very recently, when he ran out of leverage. We don’t know why. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that it’s still operating in the 20th century, but I’d say it’s a good 10-15 years behind the times."

there who will show the same amount of love and attention to the sports you mention that they show towards football? Or is it more likely it turns into a rob Peter to pay Paul type of situation because the AD can't show the same amount of love and attention to all those sports without see an increase in the available resources? Don't get me wrong I would love to see VT in those sports, especially softball where people have taken upon themselves to pick up the slack because the Athletic Department failed to do its job for the program. However, can it be done without it being at the expense of football or possibly another sport because something had to give somewhere?

I raised the point because some fans may have the expectation will start pumping money into softball and these other sports because the prior leadership "neglected" them. Whereas I am taking a more wait and see approach because VT may not be able to accomplish everything at once. If the leadership has a solid plan in place and does a better job of communicating it to the fan base, then people may be a little more understanding as to why VT doesn't dump a large sum of money into the softball program even though the program badly needs it. Particularly if they are hedging their bet that football's success should generate even more potential money for the program in the future. Hence where the good communication comes into play.
