I just want to

enjoy the game of softball with our Hokies. Once again Whit scored when hiring CPD. With all due respect to the previous regime, CPD brought the game back to the level I've always enjoyed. Not just because we are winning (it's up there though) but the culture that has been established, the buy-in from all the players, the growing momentum of the Hokie Nation in supporting this team, the attention grabbing we are getting nationally, the recruiting that winning brings and lastly, playing the game the right way and setting the stage for a long run into the future.
Last night again, the excitement and enjoyment was interfered with once again with the obsession the umps are placing on Emma. The inconsistent application of the rule showed when they not once called the Liberty pitcher out. I found myself paying attention to her motion rather than the excellence she was once again bringing to the team. I held my breath almost on every pitch. It's taking away from the enjoyment of the game, the umpire associations, the schools and the coach's ability to protect the pitchers.
I am 1000% wanting the NCAA to tweak this rule where only the replanting and gaining advantage is illegal. Emma does not gain any advantage with a small lift off the ground.
