New Bracketology is out by D1 Softball and Softball America

Both D1 Softball and Softball America released new bracketology predictions today. Personally, I lean a little more towards D1 Softball because of Eric Lopez" track history, but it's always interesting to see different viewpoints. Both publications have the Hokies missing out on hosting - no shock there. D1 Softball has the Hokies as a #20 seed while SB America has them just missing as the #17 seed. D1 has the Hokies on the road at #15 Georgia along with UNC Greensboro and Belmont (sounds familiar). SB America has the Hokies on the road at #16 Oregon along with Grand Canyon (hello, Jayme Bailey) and Idaho State. Both reference VT being on the Hosting Bubble along with Stanford, Arizona, and Mississippi State. "Stanford’s four losses outside the Top 50 keep them outside the top-16 hosting picture for now," says D1 Softball. "The Cardinal have four top 10 wins, which is more than several of the teams also on the hosting Bubble, but that number is largely buoyed by the three-game sweep over Florida State after the Noles returned to the top 10 in RPI following week 12." Here's the ACC teams and their seeding. Remember that seeds 17-32 are placed in 4-team "brackets" so the seed might not be exact. School - SB America - D1 Softball: Duke - 9- 10 FSU - 13 - 12 VT - 17 - 20 Stanford - 19 - 17 Clemson - 22 - 22 UVA - 26 - 27 L'ville - 32 - 29 Getting an At large bid in both bracketologies is Georgia Tech. In the last four out in both is North Carolina. Bottom line: Just Win, baby!!!

17 would be awful. Would rather be 20.**

17 is in the same "bucket" as 20 ....
hokietony 04/29/26 04:13 PM ET
Would rather be 21 then**
dallasvt 04/29/26 04:23 PM ET
Which could put us vs as high as 9 seed
hokiepro 04/29/26 07:56 PM ET
I think I get your thought here but ....
hokietony 04/29/26 04:25 PM ET
Georgia can’t get swept again this weekend and host
hokiepro 04/29/26 01:33 PM ET
Only SEC teams that is! It is so one sided. ACC vs SEC, and all other Conf.**
PokieHokie 04/30/26 03:15 PM ET
Both bracketologies are computed as of today
VTChip 04/29/26 01:47 PM ET
Thanks Chip. I thought they don’t do rematches or conf teams in 1st round
HolidayInnHokie 04/29/26 12:33 PM ET
With seeding the top 32, the rematch issue has gotten pushed aside a bit.

We played at Bama last year in regular season and went there in regionals
hokiepro 04/29/26 01:35 PM ET
If we were to play in a Duke regional, I might attend.**
IB4TECH 04/29/26 12:10 PM ET
That won't happen, same conference.**
hokietony 04/29/26 01:58 PM ET
Could happen in the Super Regionals, though.**
VTChip 04/29/26 02:12 PM ET
$EC bias**
bushartbs525 04/29/26 11:58 AM ET
Interestingly, they have some problems
VTChip 04/29/26 12:13 PM ET
My comment is towards the prediction that UGA hosts and VT travels to UGA
bushartbs525 04/29/26 04:23 PM ET
Isn’t KY something like 3-18 in their conference?**
GCHokieof91 04/29/26 02:10 PM ET
Actually, they are 1-23 in the conference...
VTChip 04/29/26 02:18 PM ET
Dayum. Burn, SEC, Burn!!!**
Atlee Hokie 04/29/26 03:41 PM ET
That’s horrid. That alone should disqualify
GCHokieof91 04/29/26 02:51 PM ET
No argument from me**
VTChip 04/29/26 03:03 PM ET
SC is 25 not Auburn; Auburn is 34 I think
hokiepro 04/29/26 01:37 PM ET
Auburn is actually 32 on today's RPI chart
