There are four weeks remaining in the regular season. The Hokies have 15 regular season games left - 10 of which are at home - plus the ACC tournament. They are currently at #23 in RPI, but it is going to be tough to move up into the top 16. The best RPI opponents left are two games with UVA (RPI #29) and at Liberty (#36). On the flip side, 3-game series with Boston College (#81), Georgia Tech (#57), and Syracuse (#95) won't help at all. This season, KPI is supposed to be used as a reference tool in the selection process, but the Hokies are current #20 in that metric, so it won't help much. In his current bracketology, Eric Lopez has the Hokies as a #2 seed in the Georgia region. Charlotte is projected as the #3 seed and USC Upstate is the #4. In the past, the committee has been somewhat reluctant to schedule regular season re-matches, but with nine SEC schools hosting and geography as a consideration, there may not be a lot of options. UVA is projected to be sent to Tennessee. And candidly, I would rather be a #2 seed than a #15 or #16 overall seed and be staring at Texas or Oklahoma in the Super Regional round. Still four weeks to go and we can only worry about what we can control. Just win, baby!
