The troubling part about the whole thing is the handwriting was on the wall

for quite a while with this NIL stuff, transfer portal, academic issues (looking at you UNC, though they surely were not the only ones), and even conference realignment issues. These issues raised their ugly heads years ago, and the NCAA leadership kept its head in the sand, or up its ass, as did the leadership of the colleges and universities. They ignored (closed their eyes) to the realities of the situations, so here we are. Personally, I believe the NCAA might actually have some decent leadership now, but the damage done by prior administrations might be so overwhelming that the current leadership is just the captain on a ship that's been taking on water for so long that there is only one way to go and that's down.
