Back then the super regionals were two day affairs. One game the first day and a double header (if needed) the next day. We arrived in Ann Arbor around 5:00 in the morning, got rooms at the Hampton Inn with the team hotel across the corner (pure luck as we didn’t know where they were staying at the time). Went to dinner with the team after the first game (loss). The team was very confident they would win the next two games the next day, which they did. Drove back to Charlottesville after the end of the doubleheader and arrived back home around 5:30 the next morning. Quite a trip!
