I wanted to see her finish as her control was good all night

Its when she gets behind in the counts when I worry. bree has been great this year but that 7th inning was Emma's to finish and kuddos to Pete for showing complete trust in her. She earned that by staying in control the whole night. Now I did worry though as their top 4 had the table set and Hilton and Eaton both could tied or win it with 1 swing. Cabral didn't worry me as she was intimidated all night with the speed of Emma. I worried a little with Hickory as her plate discipline was not as bad but then at 0-2 she no chance. Now I want to watch the game again as that was great.

I haven't seen it posted but I presume Josh gets kudos for calling pitches.

Mazza mentioned him in a post game interview

It's amazing how smart the pitch caller is when the pitcher can locate. A

Yes. and no. When pitchers are way off, it isn't always wildness
VAHokie89 05/08/26 01:28 PM ET
Meh. I don't believe that. "Drop ball outside" does not mean
King of Hokies 05/08/26 01:35 PM ET
pitch outside...can lend itself to further outside
VAHokie89 05/08/26 02:06 PM ET
There is nothing on their watch that says, "Drop ball outside, but pitch it
King of Hokies 05/08/26 03:26 PM ET
Ok. O will take my conversations that I have had with me
VAHokie89 05/08/26 11:16 PM ET
She was zoned in on the 1st base side of the plate all game. She was

THIS right here!!
VTsportscaster 05/08/26 12:40 PM ET
Yep. Mazz's strength is definitely NOT locating pitches. What was . . .
MidloHokie 05/08/26 01:04 PM ET
Yes. She mentioned that in one of her interviews.
VTChip 05/08/26 12:26 PM ET
You wouldn't have been wrong. I think Bree would've finished . .
MidloHokie 05/08/26 01:05 PM ET
Depends on when she came in. If she came to start the inning, great
VAHokie89 05/08/26 01:29 PM ET
Yep, and that's where you have to have plan. You can't wait until . .
MidloHokie 05/08/26 01:48 PM ET
Yeah when things got really dicey I thought we’d pull her
fsghokie 05/08/26 12:56 PM ET
I would like to think that he felt that she was largely pitching well
VAHokie89 05/08/26 01:31 PM ET
But I always thought "fsg" stood for "fricken stud great" hokie**
laphroaig 05/08/26 01:30 PM ET
lol, more aptly it should be forgetful, short, and geeky **
fsghokie 05/08/26 01:37 PM ET
I think that was a gut check from Pete. We need gutsy pitching and hitting
King of Hokies 05/08/26 01:11 PM ET
Absolutely!
fsghokie 05/08/26 01:21 PM ET
Pete is very conscious of the effect of decision-making on the player/team
TomTurkey 05/08/26 01:36 PM ET
Pete honed some Mazzarone-type Steel last night. He knew what he was doing**
laphroaig 05/08/26 01:32 PM ET
This is why I’m not quite as convinced as others Bre will start today.
vatechcowpatty 05/08/26 01:20 PM ET
Bre will start. She has earned that right and frankly there is no reason
King of Hokies 05/08/26 01:25 PM ET
No bad decisions. Will never know how it'd have turned out.
TomTurkey 05/08/26 12:53 PM ET
I feel like I’m the only one who had no doubt she’d finish it off.**
schubee 05/08/26 12:46 PM ET
