But it isn't like batters are hitting HRs every time they get a hit

There are 49 players with 16 or more HRs for the season. There are 15 who have more than 18. Assuming most teams have played 45-48 games so far, the majority of these HR hitters are hitting a HR once every 3+ games? Cori has hit her 27 HRs in roughly 147 ABs but she is the exception. This does not include walks. So Cori is hitting a HR every 6 ABs? But that is crazy. Most of those other batters with 16 HRs are doing it 10% of the time. I know if you gave more hittable pitches, HRs might go up...but at this rate, those batters with 14-16 HRs are hitters who are going to hit 14-16 HRs for various reasons. See Peck... she is a 13-hr a year on average hitter... The potential is there but she is only going to hit a HR once every 4-ish games or 13-16 ABs? It is not necessarily about giving up HRs. It could be about letting your defense work. Maybe there is too much emphasis on striking out batters versus taking advantage of the defense with its high fielding percentage? The thing that annoys me is how often it feels like pitchers walk a batter after getting ahead 0-2 or 1-3... because the pitchers start to play with batters and try to get them to chase bad pitches. Before you know, you have walked someone... I don't know the statistics about how often a pitcher walks a batter after being ahead in the count.

Both baseball and softball can’t throw strikes. Most fundamental

It’s a joke. Most fundamental of plays and these pitchers can’t convert.
