This is what they do
When you live in the snow belt, you get a late start. They never peak until May. Being scheduled against Syracuse early in the season is a huge advantage... late in the season, not so much.
This is a problem with the RPI. It completely fails to recognize that Syracuse today is a much more competitive team than they were early on. Everyone, regardless of when they played them, gets the same average-ish RPI treatment as if they were a 27-21 (or whatever they end up) team for the entire year.
